GENERAL INFORMATION:

The exciting new Castle Quarter Christmas Art and Craft Market (with seasonal Food and Drink) will replace the original Cardiff At Christmas Craft*folK Markets, previously hosted in canvas stalls. These events have been successfully run in the centre of Cardiff for the past 16 years and for 2010 will now be upgraded to become a renowned visitor attraction housed in traditional wooden chalets, in keeping with the newly refurbished venues.

Cardiff City Council will extensively promote this new event along the lines of the extremely popular Cardiff Winter Wonderland with the bandstand, choirs and seasonal entertainments adding to the vibrant trading atmosphere. 

 

CRAFT*FOLK ART & CRAFT EVENTS 2010

Welcome to our Craft*folk 2010 programme of events for genuine artists, crafters, food purveyors and a wide range of alcohol producers. 

Events will be outdoors in 2.5m x 2.5m (8ft x8ft) canvas stalls.  These units have a pitched roof, back and sides which can be used for additional display purposes and double units may also be available.
We are always looking to promote genuine products with “diverse” and “added value” elements and this year we will be able to have an additional emphasis on food and drink stalls.  If you are interested in participating with us at Christmas or at any of the events listed below, please contact us for an Information Pack.

The second of our unique outdoor free event, showcasing genuine artists and crafters who are keeping traditional skills alive by producing and selling their own high quality work.  A selection of food and drink stalls will compliment the Craft*folK experience in this extremely well supported event set in the highly visual Cardiff Bay area.

RHS SPRING FLOWER SHOW - BUTE PARK, CARDIFF

The best of Wales and the best of Spring all in one must-see show which returns to the parklands of Cardiff Castle, ready to dazzle with charming show gardens, beautiful displays of spring flowers and a host of fun activities for all the family to enjoy.  Highlights also include floral marquees, fine Welsh food, nature trails and live music together with over 30 Craft*folK art and craft stalls.

MAY DAY IN THE BAY 2010 – CARDIFF BAY

Craft*folk have exclusively hired the Oval Basin/Roald Dahl Plass for the May Day Bank Holiday Weekend for the second of a prestigious annual outdoor event to add to the extensive calendar of events in this very popular setting. The uniqueness and success of this event is due to a significant number of over 60 quality participants with particular emphasis on fascinating demonstrations of arts and crafts. A selection of food and drink stalls will compliment work-shops, musicians and dancers.

Over 30 canvas units with lockable wooden inserts will host genuine artists and crafters who are keeping traditional skills alive by producing and selling their own high quality work. Together with tempting food and drink stalls, art and craft demonstrations are always a welcome addition to add to the unique shopping experience.

NEWPORT ART AND CRAFT FESTIVAL - COMMERCIAL STREET, NEWPORT

Our third event in Newport will host up to 30 Art and Craft Stalls interspersed with seasonal Food and Drink. Stalls will sited in the extremely busy pedestrianised main shopping street in Newport.  Visitors enjoy the alternative art and craft shopping experience and are able to commission personalised gifts or just taste the seasonal food and drink on offer.

 

JULY 2010

INTERNATIONAL FOOD AND DRINK FESTIVAL – ROALD DAHL PLASS, CARDIFF BAY

The Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival (9 to 11 July) showcases the best of Welsh produce alongside that of its international neighbours. It will host over 40 individual food and drink producers from throughout Wales who will be joined by producers from France, Germany, Norway, Italy and the Czech Republic.  Together with a full entertainment programme featuring music, dance, street entertainers and cookery demonstrations along with a French ‘Guingette’ serving Muscadet wine and a well-stocked bar and restaurant tent.   Craft*folK stalls hosting dedicated, genuine artists and crafters promoting their hand made creations will be open from Wednesday 7 July to coincide with the Student Degree Ceremonies being held in the adjacent Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay.

Featuring Europe's largest traveling funfair, medieval villages, rock bands, street entertainment and theatre plus the Big Cheese Tent and over 50 of our Art and Craft Stalls interspersed with wine and liqueurs producers will be present at this vibrant, widely publicised and well attended event.

Celebrate the long Bank Holiday at the end of the summer in Cardiff Bay with a feast of nautical entertainment for all the family.
Craft*folK stalls will part of the extremely popular nautical Harbour Festival in Cardiff Bay for the first time this year by kind permission of the Cardiff City Council. Genuine artists and crafters who are keeping traditional skills alive will be selling their own high quality work.  A selection of food and drink stalls will compliment the “Fish and Ships” experience at this free waterside event.

A Tall Ship and replica ship are scheduled to be docked at the Waterfront in Barry.  Craft*folK art and craft stalls promoting their hand made goods are sited at the waterfont itself, amongst the crowds of ship bound visitors  Street & children’s entertainment, music stage, food & wine, café theme & cooking demos will sited at the Goods Shed area.

COWBRIDGE FOOD AND DRINK FESTIVAL 2010 - VALE FORGE, NORTH RD,COWBRIDGE

The extremely successful Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival, now in its 7th year, will again host over 70 suppliers of top quality produce from throughout Wales, a Champagne tent, Salon Culinare competition, real ale festival, and children's activities together with over 30 of our vibrant art and craft stalls.

CARDIFF AT CHRISTMAS ART AND CRAFT FESTIVAL 2010

“THE BEST WALES CAN OFFER”. In its 17th year, “Cardiff At Christmas”, the well established out-door art and craft stalls will be sited in the heart of City’s trading area.  The Festival will open again every day 9.30am to 6.00pm. (5.00pm on Sundays) with 50 stalls hosting a rolling programme of at least 80 genuine artists and crafters selling their own work, together with a selection of food and drink stalls.

Passers-by will be tempted by enamel and pewter work, heritage images of Wales, carved Welsh lovespoons, metalwork, photography, hand built and thrown pottery, silver and precious stone jewellery, quality yarns with accessories, traditional wooden items and toys, art works and cards for all occasions, specialist knotting, leatherwork, glasswork and needlework together with many original decorative items for the house and garden - to name but a few!
Commission artwork, from exquisite life-like pencil drawings taken from photographs to large contemporary and colourful abstract canvases.  Gifts may be personalised while you wait, or just taste the seasonal food and drink on offer. Choose from a selection of home made Welsh fudge, whisky, wines, fruit and cream liqueurs, cheeses, fresh hot pancakes, honey roasted nuts and a traditional hog roast.

Cardiff At Christmas Art and Craft Festival provides a focus for arguably the finest shopping atmosphere in Britain. We look forward to seeing you there to support the quality artists and crafters who are keeping traditional skills alive.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Booking Forms

Please contact us for details if you are interested in participating in any of the above events. Initially we will send you an Information Pack including an Expression of Interest Form to allow you to request individual Booking Forms for the above events. All events are individually priced and taster stalls may be available.
These Booking Forms will detail costs for canvas and/or lockable stalls with wooden inserts, may give information about the event and availability of tables/counters, clear weatherproof removable front sheets and electricity. Booking Forms requested will be sent to you as and when available, however, you are not committed to participate until you return them to us duly completed.
Stalls or positions on site will not be allocated until Craft*folK have received a signed Booking Form, payment in line with the Terms and Conditions and details of your work by way of our Criteria Form.
So that you know we have received your Booking Form we will return a copy to you for your records within 2 weeks. If, however, you do not receive this then please contact us to verify that we have received your booking form. A detailed ‘Setting Up’ letter will be sent just prior to the event. This may include your position on site, maps, opening times, etc.
It is normal procedure to attend for the full duration of the dates shown on the Booking Form, for example, the full three days, the full week, etc. If you are unable to attend any event for the specified duration, please let us know because occasionally we may be able to find, or know of another potential participant in the same situation. If we have space or cancellations, free demonstration stalls (to be used alongside an already booked stall) may be available.  Taster stalls may be offered to new participants at selected events.

Criteria Forms

You will be asked to complete a Criteria Form which will allow us to undertake a form of vetting involving interested parties on behalf of the relevant event organisers and City and County Councils. We therefore require photographs and/or examples of your work or a website address to enable us to view your work. Please note that arts and crafts must be created, made, designed or altered/adapted to give an appreciatively ‘added value’ by the exhibitor or a family member by the exhibitor or a family member.
Site visits to workshops/premises may be arranged to verify originality of goods or you may wish to call in to see us personally. If you have any queries regarding the safety of your goods, Trading Standards are very helpful. Please note that they may also inspect your goods at events.

Cardiff City Centre Events

For Cardiff City Centre events only, the canvas stalls will be supplied with lockable wooden doors and internal wooden panels so that goods can be left overnight as security will be in operation. The development of the Welsh Capital has now transformed it into an exciting new destination as one of the top10 shopping destinations in the UK.  This will be our 17th Christmas hosting outdoor Art and Craft Festivals in the heart of the City of Cardiff.  These popular and established stalls will be filled with a rolling programme of participants over the six week Christmas period and you could be one of them, selling direct to the public or taking commissions. Christmas always begins early in Cardiff with the opening of the award winning Winter Wonderland and open air ice rink in November, with our own stalls trading right up until the 23 December.  Spring and Summer are not forgotten with their own Festivals where visitors enjoy the alternative shopping experience on offer.

INSURANCE

All crafts people must also certify that they are carrying adequate Public Liability Insurance of at least £2,000,000 in connection with their attendance and with the sale and usage of their goods and by application do so warrant.
